Joanne joined the financial services industry in 1986 and has held a variety of roles within. She was on the Board of ‘disability insurer Unum’, serving for seven years as Corporate Services Director with responsibilities for all Governance matters. Having left UNUM in 2008, she is now a Board Director of Campbell Page UK.
Joanne also works for AXA Assistance advising on strategic regulatory and legal matters.
Ann-Marie joined the Society in 2006. She brought to the Society a wealth of marketing experience gained from over 20 years in the industry. She has held senior positions in various advertising and marketing agencies working on accounts such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Yorkshire Bank, Parcelforce and the NBrown Group. Since joining she has overseen the implementation of a ‘through the line’ website and is responsible for all communications issued by the Society. In 2011 she was made Marketing Director and joined the Board, taking a key role in revising its distribution strategy. In 2013 Ann-Marie was made Managing Director of the Society’s wholly owned subsidiary Financial Advice Network Limited and in January 2015 was appointed as Shepherds Group CEO.
Justine has worked all her career as an actuary in the life assurance industry. The last 15 years has been in the Friendly Society sector in a variety of roles from product development to regulatory reporting. She joined the Society in 2012 and is the Finance and Risk Director. A prime focus within her role is heading up the implementation of Solvency II for the Society.
Nemone has 15 years’ financial and commercial executive experience in the equity capital markets sector of the City of London, most recently as Finance Director on the main board of a stock exchange. She has also held roles at the London Stock Exchange, HSBC Investment Bank and KPMG Corporate Finance.
Nemone’s board experience includes corporate governance, financial leadership, corporate finance, corporate communications, investor relations, regulatory liaison, risk and compliance and business development.
Nemone is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
Simon Pashby is a Chartered Accountant with almost 30 years’ experience working in financial services. He has experience of advising a wide range of financial services organisations on risk, regulations and controls. Simon was a partner with KPMG responsible for the audits of investment, banking and insurance companies; he retired in 2012 and now works as an independent non-executive director, maintaining his knowledge as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
He is vice-chairman of the Medical Protection Society, a members’ mutual fund which provides indemnity services to the medical profession, chairing the audit and risk committee, and is a non-executive director of the Scottish Building Society, where he chairs the operational risk committee.
Cameron qualified as a Fellow of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries in 1988. He has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years not only in the UK but also in Europe and Asia.
Prior to retirement, Cameron was the Chief Actuary for a mutual insurance company and before that he has held roles in risk, compliance, marketing and sales. Currently, he is also a Non-Executive Director at Chiene + Tait Financial Planning.
Mark has worked in the Financial Services sector for 35 years and has a broad range of experience across banking and insurance, having worked for both public companies and Mutual organisations.
His recent experience was as CEO of British Friendly, a mutual Income Protection provider and interim CEO of MetFriendly an affinity based with-profits mutual, providing savings and investment products to the Police family. He holds Non-Executive positions with Direct Life where he serves as Chairman, is a Committee member of Huntingdon racecourse and an adviser to LGT Vestra.
Nasrin joined Shepherds Friendly in 2006 with responsibility for managing and developing the Society’s people function. Nasrin is an HR specialist and a Chartered Member of the Institute of
Personnel and Development. She has worked in a variety of industries and has over 25 years’ experience within the HR profession. Since joining the Society, Nasrin has been focussed on
enhancing the Society’s culture and people strategy, ensuring that we provide a quality experience for both our members and our staff.
Sam joined the Society in 2010. After a previous role as a software analyst, he has held a variety of roles in both Marketing and I.T. rising to Head of I.T. in 2016. Through delivery of the Society’s I.T. Strategy, he has played a key role in modernising the Society’s technological infrastructure to improve scalability and meet the needs of both our Members and the business. Sam was made Chief Operating Officer in 2017 and holds responsibility for the Business Intelligence, I.T. & Development, Member Services and Project Management teams. Sam holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh.
